Skin Cancer Product Transfer Meets a Demanding Brief
One of Ensign’s largest pharmaceutical customers approached the business about a therapeutic product they wished to transfer from Europe to Australia. This was a cytotoxic product used to treat skin cancers and consequently very important in the marketplace. More specifically, it was a topical cream and an anti-metabolite formulated to stop cancer cells from making and repairing their DNA, preventing them from growing and multiplying.
The product was challenging and complex to transfer, involving both risk and opportunity, particularly in such a highly regulated area. The stakes were high in an environment where liability and safety issues were paramount.
To meet this very specific need, Ensign procured specific equipment for the transfer and a new room was built for manufacturing the product. At the same time, extensive safety measures were implemented for all the workers on site. After numerous trials, testing and other hurdles, the Ensign team succeeded in onboarding this product to our site and meeting demanding compliance issues.
Today, the product is widely available and commonly prescribed for skin cancer treatment. Ensign is proud to have managed the transfer of a product that could be life-changing for thousands of skin cancer patients.
