Inspired Thinking. Practical Solutions.
Innovation drives our business and our people. Ensign can create new formulations and product solutions based on your brief, or optimise existing products to be more effective, more competitive or comply with market regulations.
We have the expertise to create a variety of formulation types; complex blends and suspensions, emulsions, liquids, creams, waxes, gels and aerosols. Decades of experience mean we develop formulations designed for commercial manufacture, ensuring quality and consistency for every batch.
How We Support Your Product Journey
At Ensign, we understand how to meet multiple needs in fast-changing markets. We can help you create cut-through products to attract new customers or modernise legacy products to retain market share. We manage the complexities of product development, so that you can concentrate on marketing your brand.
Our R&D team explores raw material and product trends from across the globe and offers a large showcase of new product and delivery concepts. From creams that break on the skin and deliver water droplets, to crackling foams, we can bring your concept to life.
The R&D team is the centre of knowledge for different product categories, leveraging the broader team’s expertise across production and quality testing and compliance. We have strong relationships with raw material suppliers and leverage their knowledge of ingredients that are suitable for use, current trends and future possibilities. We love to bring customers into our world and guide them in a space that may be unfamiliar. We take the time to explain in straightforward terms how a product is made, the ingredients that are used and the claims you are allowed to make for your product.
Every product we develop at Ensign is comprehensively checked for quality and compliance. Where required, testing during research and development may be carried out externally through our network of trusted laboratories. Our Process Validation chemists will then ensure the product specifications developed in the laboratory are achieved in commercial manufacture, as well as checking that our cleaning methods are suitable for new formulations.
The global regulatory environment is complex and ever-changing. Many of our customers operate in multiple markets with varying regulations, as well as having their own internal compliance requirements.
Ensign’s regulatory department is highly experienced in navigating the complexity of compliance and leverages the knowledge of multiple international consultant partners, when requirements are complex or less familiar. This ensures that from development, through to manufacture and supply your products will meet the requirements of your chosen market.
Ensign is also a member of leading industry associations; Accord, The Aerosol Association and Consumer Healthcare Products Australia. These memberships offer regulatory advice and a voice to the regulators and government agencies, as well as links to allied international associations.
I enjoy the variety of product types and product complexity we work with at Ensign. You are always being challenged.”
